Ingredients:
4lb potatoes
Milk & butter (just enough for mashed poatoes)
1lb ground meat (we use yak for best flavor)
1/3lb cheese (we use Tillamook white)
One medium onion
One beef bullion cube or beef broth (about a pint)
Salt & Pepper
Herbs.. 1/2tsp each Cilantro, Italian Seasoning, Thyme (other herbs if you have personal preference)
Garlic Salt
Cooking Instructions:
1. Cut potatoes into large pieces and boil for approx. 20 minutes or until partially soft. little salt to taste.
2. Cut onion into slices.
3. Finely grate cheese.
4. Cook meat in saucepan with onion until all pink is gone. Strain fat (none with yak). Add salt, pepper, cilantro, italian seasoning, thyme.
5. Add beef broth or bullion cube mixture (approx. 1 pint). Mix well. Let cool to slightly warm.
6.Mash potatoes with a little milk and butter (do not make too wet) and let cool to slightly warm.
7. Place meat mixture into dish approx. 9x6x3
8. Lay potatoes over meat mixture (do not press into meat)
9. Sprinkle a little garlic salt over potatoes. Sprinkle grated cheese over potatoes.
10. Place in over on LOW broil for about 15 minutes.
11. Then change to HIGH broil for about 10 minutes. Cheese topping will turn golden brown.
